I’m a little late on this one, but I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain how a Democratically controlled city like Chicago, Illinois, who has one of the most sweeping gun control laws in the nation can actually have 72 people shot over a weekend, as what happened last week. Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?
In case you missed this news story, there were 72 people shot in Chicago last weekend, and something like 11 or 12 people were killed. I hear one person has been arrested. He by the way, wasn’t accused of shooting all 72 people. My question is how in the world can that happen?
The city is run by Rahm Emanuel, who is as sturdy of a liberal Democrat as there ever was. The city has like total Democrat control. And the police chief and Emanuel have been trying to explain how in the world with all of the gun bans in their city, that something of this magnitude could happen. It’s certainly not something that you can blame Republicans on because I don’t think there are any Republicans in that town. And I’m sure there are none in leadership positions.
So, why is it that a city like Chicago has this huge problem with guns? I have my own ideas on the situation, but gee…I’d really like to hear from Rahm on this one. Oh wait. He did come out early in the week and say something about it. What did he say? He said there are too many guns on the street. There are too many people with criminal records on the street. What Chicago needs is better parenting. They need parents to take better control of their kids.
Sounds rather conservative to me…how about you?
Actually, Emanuel has nowhere to turn but to take that bent. He can’t blame the fact that his laws aren’t strict enough. They’re pretty much the most strict laws in the country. And he can’t blame Republicans because the Democrats have run that town since the days of Al Capone.
Here’s my point to all of this. The reason Chicago is having the problems it’s having is exactly because of the reasons Emanuel has mentioned. The breakdown of the family, people that don’t know the difference between right and wrong because they were never taught the difference between right and wrong. And lawlessness begets lawlessness. It’s a shining example that if all you want to do is ban guns (as the left is wont to do), then it will fail, just as it has in Chicago. If you want to solve this problem, you must do what Emanuel has said…it starts with the family teaching the kids what is right and what is wrong; what is acceptable behavior and what is not acceptable behavior.
That is the part where liberalism fails. It wants to give excuses for bad behavior. Either someone had a poor childhood, or wasn’t raised properly. It’s never their fault. Well, it IS their fault and they need to be held accountable.
Cities like Chicago that have been ruled by the left for generations are going to face this problem over and over and over. When you believe that you can do whatever you want and not have consequences, this is what you will get. There is no other explanation, and Rahm Emanuel is right. Of course, now Chicago wants him to step down as Mayor because he hasn’t solved the problem. And the problem is, it’s not his problem to solve. The parents of the people doing the shooting are the problem. And their parents. And maybe even their parents.
When will the left ever learn?
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
