NBC/Universal, the company that owns the one-time Peacock Network, has come up with a plan that they hope will stem the tide of huge ratings losses due to their overwhelmingly biased news division, and constant accusations of “fake news”. It just illustrates the point of how far the media has fallen in terms of the American public.
NBC/Universal is actually thinking of paying people to watch their streams.
That’s right. You don’t need a job any longer. NBC/Universal is toying with the idea of paying people to watch their streams. Apparently, so few people are watching the networks owned by NBC/Universal, that they are thinking of paying you to stream anything on NBC, USA, and Bravo. They haven’t included other networks that they own like the Golf Channel yet, because apparently they’re happy with the results they’re getting from that.
There is a much simpler and less costly solution for NBC/Universal to try.
They could try giving an unbiased and factual account of the news on their shows like Today, all of their Megyn Kelly shows, and of course their Nightly News with Lester Holt. That would probably go a long way toward getting viewers back. And it wouldn’t really cost them anything. Of course, the downside to that is, they’d have to keep their obvious biases to themselves. I mean, it worked for decades going back to the early days of television, even through the Huntly/Brinkley Report. But then again, Journalism Schools around the country like Northwestern, Missouri, and Syracuse weren’t teaching the young skullfulls of mush (with apologies to Rush Limbaugh!) that they needed to change the world by making up stories, facts be damned!
Paying people to watch your stations is a really stupid idea if you think about it. And if you’re thinking of doing it to get rich, think again. The amount of money the average viewer is going to receive is measured in cents, not dollars. Do you know how much money it would cost this network if 300 million people started watching their online stuff? Even if everybody only made $1 a day, which isn’t going to happen, NBC would never be able to recoup the cost through online advertising.
No, this is another hair-brained idea, dreamed up by a socialist network that hasn’t realized why they are losing viewers, and they are taking a left-wing approach to it. If there’s a problem, throw money at it…that’ll solve it! It hasn’t worked in anything the US government has tried, so why on earth would they think that it’ll work here? Oh, I’m not saying there won’t be SOME people that’ll fall for this stuff. But look at the facts. You can already go to several sites and watch videos that range from :30 seconds to ten minutes and get paid for watching. The end results is they get a few thousand views, and that’s about it.
No, NBC should concentrate on quality, not money. THAT is how you improve your ratings. Always has been, always will be.
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
