Why Bother With Impeachment?

Democrats are all atwitter that Donald Trump has become the only president in US history to get impeached twice…and in one term! Of course, when you look at the actual history of this, here’s what you get: Trump was impeached originally on phony charges that were later proven to be made up. The American public was lied to. So much so, that Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler, who held hearings in the House Committees, had to change the focus from Russian collusion to something else. So, they went to that phone call Trump made with the Ukrainian president back in the summer of 2019. Of course, what they DON’T say, is, Trump did nothing more than what Joe Biden did when he threatened to withhold money from Ukraine if they didn’t fire the prosecutor that was looking into Burisma, where Joe’s kid Hunter was sitting as a member of the Board of Directors.

So, we fast forward to today.

Now Trump is facing a charge of “insurrection”. It’s tied to the attempted takeover of the Capitol building back on January 6th. Nancy Pelosi couldn’t have hurried this impeachment vote through the House of Representatives any faster if she were wearing track shoes. The big question is “WHY?” See, Trump is out of office. And that’s the big thing an impeachment does. It removes you from office. And, Republicans are going to argue that you can’t impeach a private citizen. Well, technically, Trump wasn’t a private citizen when he got impeached. But he is today. And he isn’t in office. So, why bother with impeachment?

The Democrats will tell you they want to hold a second vote that bars him from holding elected position again. That’s because they don’t want him running for president in 2024 against Kamala Harris. But now the question becomes, will it work?

Rand Paul doesn’t think it will. They held a procedural vote on January 26th in the Senate, on whether or not the impeachment was constitutional. Oh, the Senate said it was. All 50 Democrats said so, along with 5 Republicans. But in order to convict Trump, and make it so he can’t ever hold public office again, they need to have 17 Republicans cross over and vote with the Democrats. Only five did during this procedural vote, which tells anybody with half a brain that this dog ain’t about to hunt.

So, there’s the rub. We’ve got Coronavirus stimulus 3.0 sitting on the back burner until now mid-March because impeachment is going to begin ahead of that. We’ve got Biden’s immigration plan set to go to Congress, and that will get pushed back. We’ve got the rest of the business of the country, and God forbid we actually drop into a recession and need to do something important between now and the end of 2021! Instead, as was the case with the first impeachment, we put important issues on hold so we can hold this charade of a trial. Instead of dealing with COVID back in January and February like they should have done, Democrats impeached Trump on phony, made up charges, costing you and me millions of dollars and wasting their time. And we obviously haven’t learned anything from that idiocy, because we’re doing it again.

I’m hoping that when the Republicans take over the House, they expel Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and Jerry Nadler for wasting government resources. Their actions were totally out of bounds and they need to be held accountable.

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

  1. This second impeachment is good because there’s been many reports, even on the fake news networks, that the January 6th riot at the Capitol was preplanned and the Capitol police and FBI had picked-up on the Internet chatter of the pending riot weeks before Jan. 6th.

And it seems they’ve left out Trump’s comments to “Peacefully and Patriotically march to the Capitol to let your voices be heard.”

What’s good about it is it will expose the Democrats and RINO Republicans as nothing more than flat-out liars and who will vote to convict on what they know to be made-up charges which once again proves that it’s not about justice but it’s about power!

What I don’t understand is, why are the Republican’s even bothering to show up at the hearing? They should have filed an objection with the Supreme Court to put this phoney kangaroo court to rest!

    1. Of course it’s phony. So was the last impeachment! There is always a price to pay when you impeach a president and don’t get a conviction…we saw this the last time when the GOP almost overtook Democrats in the House. As far as why didn’t the Supreme Court put an end to the kangaroo court, it’s because the Supreme Court can’t. When the House of Representatives votes to impeach somebody, it HAS to go to the Senate. From a constitutional standpoint, the Democrats didn’t do anything wrong. So the Supreme Court couldn’t weigh in on the side of Trump.

      1. Yeah, but you would think that once Chief Justice Robert’s signaled that he wouldn’t preside over the impeachment that the door would be open to challenge the proceedings as being constitutional?

      2. No actually. The Chief Justice does not traditionally preside over impeachments other than sitting presidents. In the past the tradition is that the most tenured member of the majority presides. Had Trump’s impeachment trial occurred while he was in office, Roberts would have presided.

      3. Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution says “When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside:” So when the Chief Justice concludes that Trump is no longer President and therefore he will not preside, why is any of this charade even worth the time and expense when, as you say, they could be passing legislation on Covid relief?

I still think this should have been challenged and adjudicated by the Supreme Court as too whether or not to allow it to continue once Robert’s bowed out.

      4. Well, you ask the question most sane people ask. Why are they wasting their time on an impeachment trial that at best (for them) won’t allow Trump to hold elective office again? There you go! You’ve answered your own question…it’s ludicrous and insane for the left to pull this charade.
