I’m confused. I’ll readily admit that the whole “you’re racist” thing has got me all tied up in knots. First and foremost, I’ve never bought into the whole racist thing. I treat people as people. I don’t care what color you are, I care what type of person you are. If you’re a good person that cares about other people, and you happen to be black, or brown, or yellow, or red, fine. I’m good with that. If you’re an ass, and you treat people like the left is treating pretty much 75% of our population right now with all of this “cancel culture” crap, again, I don’t care what color you are, you’re an idiot and I want nothing to do with you. It has nothing to do with race. I kinda feel that most of America feels the same way.
Oh…there are exceptions!
I know that there are still people out there, young and old that are racist. I get that. And I get it that there are people out there, people that should know better; people like Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton, or Maxine Waters that should know what racism is all about, but they are racist too.
What gets me is Joe Biden. Here’s a guy that not six months ago was saying the America is “systemically racist”. Now, that means to me that you’re a racist, I’m a racist, Maxine and Al, and Jesse are racists, and yes, even Joe is a racist. We all are. I didn’t believe it then. I thought it was offensive. But he said it.
Now, Biden comes out and says, “I don’t think the American people are racist.” So, six months ago we were “systemically racist”, which means the system is racist. But the American people aren’t? Does that mean that Joe Biden isn’t racist but the White House is? Our government is racist, but the people that work in the government aren’t? The trees are racist, but whoever rakes the leaves isn’t?
That just doesn’t make any sense. Frankly, how can a system be racist, but the people in that system, making it work not be? And while we’re at it, let’s get into another catch phrase the uber-leftist snowflakes are throwing around these days. If we as a people aren’t racist, that means there isn’t any such thing as “White supremacy”, right? I mean, if you’re not racist, you don’t view one race better than another, which means all of this talk on TikTok, and Twitter about how any white person is guilty of being a “White supremacist” has to be all wrong.
I really don’t get into a lot of “racial topics” here because frankly, I really don’t think it’s my place. If everyone treats everyone the same initially and then lets their actions determine the kind of person they are, not their looks, or their dress, or their hair style and certainly not the color of their skin, then we should be ok. There are assholes, and there are nice people. You deal with both. I try to treat everyone with a modicum of respect when I first meet them. After that it’s up to them whether that respect grows or dies, depending on what they do and how they treat others. So, to me, race doesn’t really fit into the equation.
The exception to that last paragraph is that it seems that in the last year or so, there are issues when people feel put upon. I’m sure that has happened, but I’m also sure it hasn’t happened to the degree those folks think it has. We all tend to read between the lines a bit and usually that leads to trouble and misinterpreting what’s going on.
My whole point here is simple. You cannot be “systemically racist” six months ago, and just because someone new is occupying the White House, six months later, not be racist. That makes no sense what so ever. But then again, I guess I need to consider the source!
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
