Step To The Right…

I have always believed that politics is nothing more than a pendulum swinging in this country. First it swings to the right, then it swings to the left, then back to the right, and so on. That’s because Americans in this country are basically moderate. Oh, it’s a slightly right of center country, but not by much. So, when Republicans are in charge of government, they usually go “too far” for the moderates, who want the freebies that Democrats offer. When the Democrats take over, the moderates realize that there is a steep price for all of those freebies. And it’s back to the right again.

We had our swing to the left in 2020 when Biden and company got elected. Dems’ basically held Congress (though not by more than the skin of their unbrushed teeth). And you’re seeing the results of that swing here in 2022.

We’ve taken some rather severe steps to the right in the past few weeks. Take the overturning of New York’s 100 year old gun law that basically said, sure…you can get a concealed carry permit. You just have to prove that you NEED to have one. Nope. That flies in the face of the Second Amendment.

Next we had the overturning of Roe v. Wade. That shouldn’t have been a major surprise really to anybody, but it was indeed a big blow to the left. They cried that they had this “right” for 50 years. Let’s get one thing straight. They do not have a right. The Constitution does spell out that you have the right to bear arms. It doesn’t say a word about pregnancy or abortion. And it doesn’t give Congress and the federal government the right to legislate that as the 10th Amendment would so aptly put it. So, it’s a states’ issue. And that’s what this court did. They returned the question of abortion to the states. But it was a step to the right.

And while I’m on the subject of abortion and “women’s rights to choose”, let me just say that abortion has never been a Constitutional right. It’s not in there. I’ve looked. Just because Democrats and liberals want to make everything a “right”, doesn’t mean they have the ability to do so. Rights are not granted by man. They are granted by God. Now, that flies in the face of the left’s view that they are indeed gods. But they don’t have the ability to do so. So, when they call for a “patients’ bill of rights”, or “air travelers’ bill of rights”, they are just fooling themselves.

We’ve also had a step to the right when it comes to religion. Long being banished from public places, I sense that religion could be making a long-needed come back. Joesph Kennedy, the Bremerton, Washington football coach who was fired for praying with his players at midfield following their games won his victory in the highest court of the land this session. It was a huge win because of the fact it begins to establish “freedom OF religion”, not freedom FROM religion. The First Amendment doesn’t say that government can’t be religious. It says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

It was obvious to anybody with a second grade education that prohibiting the free exercise thereof was exactly what Bremerton school officials did to Kennedy and his team. No one was forced to join them. No one was ridiculed if they didn’t join them. They were free to do so if they wanted. Likewise, government can certainly celebrate God. They just can’t make laws that ban or deter the establishment of a religion, or stop people from practicing their own beliefs. If that means you want to worship onions…go for it. No one can stop you. Don’t forget (and the libs don’t want to be reminded of this), religious freedom was the overriding reason this country was founded in the first place.

We are going to continue to see steps to the right as we get closer to November. And if the red wave happens as everyone is predicting, you’re going to see an even greater step to the right, as Joe Biden’s dream of transforming government shatters into a sea of dog doo doo. But don’t worry liberal friends…as always happens, the pendulum likes to be at 6 o’clock. and will strive to return there soon enough!

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
