Another Broken Biden Promise

And here is broken promise #12 already in the first 39 days of the Biden administration. This time it deals with taxes. Back on August 23, 2020, The Hill reported on an interview with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. One of the questions had to do with taxes, and of course Democrats love affair with raising them. Here is what Joe Biden said:

“Everybody should pay their fair share. I will raise taxes for anybody making over $400,000 a year. No new taxes would be raised for anyone making under $400,000.”

That was during an ABC interview with Harris, interviewed by David Muir. Well, it didn’t take long for that one to go by the wayside. On February 26th, Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen told G20 members in Europe that Washington is going to drop it’s objections to a global digital tax. Yes, you heard right. The Trump administration had been against a global tax on the internet. They successfully threw up roadblocks that caused the plan to stall.

What the plan is entailing is a tax on tech companies that earn money in the G20 countries, but are housed outside of those countries. See, they can make money outside of those countries, but it’s kind of like the old sales tax dodge that had been run in the US for years. No one on the internet paid sales tax for years. Then states started realizing all of the money they were losing, and they started making companies charge sales tax on any item sold. It was taxed at the purchasers’ state tax rate, which I bet was fun to try and get figured in for the first time.

This is aimed at companies like Amazon, and Google, and Facebook, and the like, about 75 companies that may be able to make money off of the internet in foreign countries, but they have no way to collect taxes on them. And what’s going to happen? Why does that break Joe Biden’s “no new taxes under $400,000” pledge?

Very simply put, those taxes that get charged to Facebook, and Google, and Amazon, and Twitter, and the like, are going to be passed on to you and me. It may be in the form of a tax. It may be in increased fees that you pay your ISP in order to get on the internet in the first place, but trust me, you and I will be paying for those taxes. It may even show up on your ISP’s monthly bill to you as “Global Digital Tax”. But rest assured, you and I are going to be paying it.

Washington didn’t have to jump on board with this tax. And as long as the big tech companies don’t pass anything on to us, it’s not violating Biden’s promise. But the minute they do, he needs to be called on it. It IS a new tax, and it IS placed on us in that situation. No, the money may not be going to the US Treasury, but it IS because the US Treasury has agreed to it. That’s a new tax.

With 12 promises broken in the past 39 days, you can be sure of one thing. Joe Biden is not just a great plagiarizer, apparently, he’s not much for telling the truth either. Apparently it’s “Say anything as long you get elected”. Sad.

Not Everyone Happy With Dems on Stimulus Check 3.0

I can really understand why. I’ve written about this before, but apparently, the Democrat National Committee, on their official Twitter site, posted the following:

That has a lot of Democrats upset because as Joe Biden pointed out, he was going to send $2,000 checks “immediately” once Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff got elected to the US Senate from Georgia. In fact, this was one of their online ads:

As you can plainly see, there is no mention of this being a $1,400 check! I am seeing $2,000, how about you?

Well, as you can imagine, it’s drawn a lot of ire from the Democrat voters. Here is a smattering of what they had to say:

Gaslighting the very people who trusted & voted for you.

Amazing that your side easily sails under this extremely low bar every time.

$600 “down payment” huh? weird that no one called it that – especially as you had senatorial candidates running on $2000 checks – ever until now.

Thank you for lying to everyone for the whole senate election cycle!

Good luck in the midterms with this incredible strategy

If you didn’t actually know this was an underhanded bait and switch you wouldn’t feel the need to keep phrasing it like this.

I’m so full of fury and disbelief that people could actually defend walking back A CAMPAIGN PROMISE MADE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC to give people $2K checks to help them get by.

Thank you to everyone who is calling out @JoeBiden and @TheDemocrats for blatantly lying about $2000 checks. They control the entire government and they need to be held accountable. #BidenLied

And it goes on and on. You can go to Twitter and insert the hashtag #BidenLied to see a lot more. Suffice it to say, for whatever reason, Joe Biden, who initially DID say he was going to send out $2,000 checks for Stimulus 3.0, has decided that’s too much money. It’s probably because he realized it would push the overall cost of the bill to well over $2 Trillion, and he didn’t want to take anything away from his liberal city and state bailout (as California and New York say, “Thank you!”).

Look, I’ve said a million times that I don’t need a check of any size from the federal government. Give me what you owe me (which is basically Medicare and Social Security) because I’ve paid for those things…and they are NOT entitlements. Other than that, keep my taxes as low as possible and don’t waste money on stupid programs that don’t work. And this frankly is one of them. There ARE people in need out there. They SHOULD be helped. I’m not one of them. In fact, most people I know that are getting these checks don’t need it. They are either well off enough, or on Social Security and their pension/IRA/KEOUGH, and don’t need more.

These folks though are right on one account. If you are going to promise something in a campaign, don’t think We The People are so stupid that we don’t know the difference between $2,000 and $1,400. Yes, the National Education Association has dumbed down America. Thank God, not all of us have been dumbed down. Some of us still have a brain that works.

It’s Been One Week Since…

With a huge apology to Bare Naked Ladies, it’s been one week since Joe Biden took over as the President of the United States. In that one week, there sure have been some changes from campaigner Joe Biden to President Joe Biden. Let’s take a gander.

10/14/20: Biden tweets: “Donald Trump still doesn’t have a plan to get this virus under control. I do. Now? 1/22/21: Biden tweets: “There’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.” Huh? I thought you had a plan! Or did you lie to us? What I didn’t get back then was, with 10,000 people a day dying, why would you wait until you got elected before sharing that plan with us? Oh! You DIDN’T have a plan???

Let me add something further regarding COVID. On 3/12/20, Joe Biden tweeted this: “A wall will not stop the coronavirus. Banning travel from Europe – or any other part of the world – will not stop it. The disease could impact every nation and every person on the planet – we need a plan to stop it.” So, on January 24th, it was reported that “On Monday, Biden will reinstate Covid travel restrictions on non-US citizens who have been in Brazil, Ireland, United Kingdom, and much of Europe, a White House official tells @ArletteSaenz. Biden will also extend restrictions to travelers who have recently been to South Africa.” And Biden was critical of Trump for not allowing flights from China back in January and February???

In December, tribal leaders in Arizona said that they didn’t think politicians in Washington kept their word when it came to helping Native Americans, but they did feel that one of the few exceptions was going to be Joe Biden (that from Cronkite News, 12/28/20). But during one of the first few days of the Biden administration and their rollback of the production of energy on federal lands, the Ute tribe had this to say: “Your order is an attack on our economy, sovereignty, and our right to self-determination”. Oops.

Donald Trump garnered praise from diabetics across the country when he lowered the price of insulin, among other drugs. However, there were dozens of diabetes support groups who welcomed Joe Biden as president and congratulated him on his victory. UNTIL…Biden put a freeze on Trump’s reduction on the price of insulin for 60 days. Now the same groups are tearing into Biden.

The Laborers International Union of America (LIUNA) was quick to jump on board the Biden train and endorse him back in the fall. Ah, but after Biden’s decision on Inauguration Day to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline project, LIUNA tweeted this, “Pipeline construction has been a lifeline for many LIUNA members across the country. The anticipated decision to cancel the Keystone Pipeline will kill thousands of good paying UNION jobs!” And back in August, the United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters said that after “months” of investigation, they would endorse Joe Biden for President. However, they soon regretted that decision when Biden pulled the Keystone Pipeline, silencing about 11,000 union jobs.

Along the same lines, The Associated Press reports that “President Biden’s 60 day moratorium on new oil and gas leases and drilling permits is prompting wide-spread concerns in New Mexico, where spending on education and other government programs hinges on the industry’s success.” Yeah, that’s New Mexico, who voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden! Was this a thank you for the vote?

Do you remember Joe Biden in August saying that he isn’t going to be banning fracking? That did get changed rather quickly to no fracking on federal lands. Kamala Harris tweeted on 10/7/20 that “Joe Biden will NOT ban fracking. That is a fact.” But this week, according to Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich), “Biden Administration: Yes, We Are Following Through With A Fracking Ban”. Wait a minute Joe & Kamala….didn’t you say…OH! You were misquoted??? You lied??? You changed your minds??? How about, you got elected, so it doesn’t matter what you said?

A big thank you to Tyler Zed for his information and inspiration on his Zeducation site. Thanks Tyler! You’re a great guy!!!
