Pelosi’s Insanity

Nancy Pelosi was never one to be thought of as the “smartest person in the room”. Sometimes her comments turn into rambling diatribes. More often than not, it’s been fodder for the Republicans to prove that she’s not only not capable of being Speaker of the House, they believe she’s not sane enough or healthy enough to be a Representative.

Pelosi didn’t do herself any favors after Republican Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) came out on Thursday and said that there was no need for witnesses, and he would be voting against calling witnesses. That coupled with Lisa Murkowski’s comments on Wednesday, and Cory Gardner’s feelings that witnesses weren’t needed basically meant that there would not be enough GOP votes to give the Democrats the witnesses they want.

That’s when Pelosi went into action. She was rather upset this entire impeachment hoax came out the way it did, and lost no time venting. She said that even if the Senate votes for exoneration and acquittal, Trump cannot be acquitted without witnesses and the additional documentation that the Democrats are seeking. That probably would have come as a surprise to the Founding Fathers. Her exact quote was, “He will not be acquitted,” Pelosi insisted during her weekly news conference, and reported by Politico. “You cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial. You don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation and all of that. Does the president know right from wrong? I don’t think so.”

Of course, that wasn’t all. Pelosi unloaded on the President’s defense team, saying, “I don’t know how they can retain their lawyer status, in the comments that they’re making,” Pelosi told reporters, according to The Hill. “I don’t think they made the case. I think they disgraced themselves terribly in terms of their violation of what our Constitution is about and what a president’s behavior should be.”

Look, I get the fact Nancy is upset with the way all of this turned out. She was basically sold a bill of goods by Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler, and she’s aware she’s going to have to pay the price for it. But, quite honestly, she doesn’t get a say as to whether or not Trump’s defense team made the case or not. It doesn’t matter to anyone if she feels they “disgraced” themselves in what the Constitution is about. If she’s upset that this turned into a partisan jousting match, she only has Adam Schiff to blame. Remember, he’s the one that started down that path during the investigation phase.

As far as not having witnesses or adding documentation, that’s the House’s job. Just because they wanted to rush the investigation and not subpoena the witnesses they now want to call, and go through a court case to resolve the issues, as they should have, it’s not the Senate’s fault…nor is it their job. Her people blew it. Schiff and Nadler hurried their way through this charade. To try and turn the tables on the Republicans in the Senate for the House’s failure to put together a cogent argument for impeachment (when no crime has been committed) is a fool’s argument. Pelosi has fallen for it, and needs to be dressed in a fool’s hat for the rest of her time in the House.

Could It Be OVER Today?

It appears that the sham hoax of the impeachment trial in the United Senate could be coming to an end today. Or at least that’s what early indications are. Despite Democrats’ attempts to stall, and drag this charade out as long as possible to “leave a permanent stain on Donald Trump”, they have once again appear to have failed.

On Wednesday of this week, Alaska Senator, Lisa Murkowski met with Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, and coming out of the meeting, she seemed to be siding on not asking for witnesses. Earlier, Colorado Senator, Cory Gardner also indicated that he did not at this time feel the need for witnesses was pressing. That left three Senators still waffling; Susan Collins from Maine, Mitt Romney from Utah, and Lamar Alexander from Tennessee. And word is that Alexander will most likely fall in line on the vote to not have witnesses.

That would mean that if the vote were held later today, only two of the four needed Republican defectors, at most, would be siding with the Democrats, and the proposition of holding a second investigation because the House failed at their turn, would also go down in flames. And, there is rumblings that once that vote is taken, and then defeated, the Republicans in the Senate will move to vote on conviction almost immediately. Now, that may not take place directly after the witness vote. There very well may be hours upon hours of debate between the Senators, in which the Democrats will try once again to sway…are you ready for it…up to 20 of the 53 Republican Senators to join them in convicting Donald Trump.

Actually, now that I think about it, that’s not quite true. There are a few Democrats that are strongly considering not voting to convict. Joe Manchin from West Virginia is one of them, and so is Kyrsten Sinema from Arizona. Both are from states that Donald Trump won handedly in 2016, and both have shown themselves (though Sinema IS very liberal) to be rather moderate in their Senate votes! So, maybe the Democrats would have to get 23 or even 24 Republicans to jump ship, which is about as likely as you being chosen for an upcoming Mars mission.

What all of that means is, this impeachment hoax could be over by the end of the weekend. It could mean that once again, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, and Nancy Pelosi have egg on their faces, and what every single pundit in Washington DC has said from the very beginning of this thing will hold true. Donald Trump will have been exonerated of all charges against him.

Now, the question I have is, what have we learned from this? What has come from this that is of any substantive value? I can’t think of anything that’s gone on except to waste three and a half months of our Congress’ time over something so lame-brain, something so inane, something so unprofessional and immature as what the Democrats have done. And in the end, it’s not going to stop the Senate for investigating Hunter or Joe Biden. God forbid Biden wins the nomination and wins the White House, where the Republicans will most likely move to impeach him over the whole Barisma deal. In the end, you’ve seen what Democrat leadership has brought us. A waste of two years.

Hopefully, the American public will remember what they’ve done…or should I say, haven’t done with their opportunity to lead, and remove them from leadership positions in the House of Representatives.

The Bolton Bombshell?

John Bolton, the guy that was a White House National Security Adviser for Donald Trump, has leaked a manuscript from his upcoming book. Actually, from a marketing prospective, it’s a brilliant move. But the leak includes a part that says that yes, Donald Trump explicitly felt that as long as the Ukrainians withheld their investigation into Hunter and Joe Biden, they shouldn’t be getting the $393 million in aid that was promised. Of course, Democrats are all excited to hear this! Donald Trump, on the other hand says it’s not true and that Bolton is out trying to sell books.

My take is a little bit different.

Let’s say that Bolton’s recall of the situation is 100% accurate. Let’s say that Trump really did explicitly say that we needed to withhold the aid unless and until the Bidens were investigated. So what? Didn’t Joe Biden, as Vice President of the United States, tell the Ukrainians that he was going to withhold money for them until they fired a prosecutor that was looking into Hunter Biden’s firm? And didn’t Sleepy Joe even brag about doing it in public? Let’s say Bolton’s account is true…what difference does that make? At the time it was done, there was no guarantee that Joe Biden was going to be the Democrat nominee for president. Hell, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren could beat him, and still could today!

The Democrats throw a LOT on this whole phone call. They insist that Trump was trying to have a potential candidate from the other side investigated for wrong-doing. Isn’t that what the DOJ and the FBI were actually doing in 2016 dealing with one Hillary Rodham Clinton? And couldn’t (and she’d say “didn’t”) that have had a major outcome in the election results?

This whole thing is bogus from the beginning. If Hunter and Joe Biden were engaged in illegal stuff, they should indeed be called on it…just like Hillary was called on it. And if being investigated because you were up to your neck in illegalities means you lose an election, I’d blame the party that nominated you. If they knew you were crooked, and still nominated you, you got what you deserved!

This is all just one more attempt by Democrats to try and prove that somehow, some way, Donald Trump is and always has been some sort of illegal president. They just can’t bring themselves to the fact that he’s beating them at their own game with absolutely zero experience in politics. And they can’t believe that he would defeat someone who was “supposed to win the White House”, by whomever is pulling Hillary Clinton’s strings.

No, I’m sorry. I’ve listened to the left’s argument on this one, and it comes up woefully short. If you’re going to nail Trump for what he did, you have to nail Biden for what he did as well. Then it’ll be a Pence versus Bernie race in November. I wonder how that one would turn out?

No Interest In Impeachment?

As the President’s defense team wraps up it’s 24 hours of presenting it’s side of the case, it’s become very noticeable to Senators in the Jury that something is amiss. Where are the people that usually flood the gallery up above the Senate floor? It’s almost empty!

Throughout last week, there were noticeably empty seats that many Senator Jurors took notice of. Now, you and I didn’t see that because there is only one camera that is trained on whomever is speaking, and it’s a pretty tight shot. You don’t get the chance to see what the Jurors in the trial are actually doing, and you don’t get to see a shot of the entire chamber, which had a half empty gallery.

Democrats reason that the gallery is empty because the whole proceeding is on television, and if you wanted to watch it, you could be in the comfort of your own home and watch it. Well, that’s kinda true…unless of course you didn’t want to turn on CSPAN or run the Fox News app. Most news channels, and the broadcast channels all dumped “gavel to gavel coverage” because it was way too boring and the daily ratings showed that no one was tuning in. They all went back to regular programming. Even places like MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News decided to just “keep tabs” on the proceedings, and allow their regularly scheduled programming to air.

Republicans, on the other hand are reasoning that the gallery is empty because what was going on was 28 hours of blather. Democrat House Managers were basically repeating themselves, debasing the president, and the Senate if they didn’t convict and remove the president, all the while knowing full well how this charade ends. Oh, there were some that couldn’t figure out what was going on, and wondered allowed why more people weren’t interested to see history in the making live and in person!

I can cut through the chase for you. Here’s what’s going on. The trial is boring. The trial is uneventful because frankly people like Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler are not exciting speakers. They drone. They put people to sleep. And America has heard their case ad nauseum. We don’t need to hear it again. America either feels, like most Democrats, that Trump is guilty of the two charges and needs to be removed from office like, yesterday. Or, they feel like most Republicans and Independents, that the Democrats are sore losers and are trying to make themselves feel better after blowing the 2016 election.

People are tired of this. You talk to people that are your friends and neighbors and I bet about 1% of them are actually tuning in to hear this stuff. I know my wife, who is probably more politically savvy than most people, but not really into politics won’t watch any news station if it’s got coverage of the trial on. She claims it’s boring, she’s heard it all before, and it doesn’t matter because Trump wins in the end. It’s kinda like the whole Clinton impeachment thing. There was no way he was going to be convicted, and there is no way Trump is going to be convicted. And yes, Virginia, it WILL hurt Democrats at the ballot box this November.

The best thing that can happen at this point is for the Trump team to finish it’s case, the Senate to ask their 16 hours of questions, start their debate and vote against witnesses, because it won’t change anything, and if the House didn’t do their work properly, it’s on them, not the Senate to do that. Then, vote to either convict Trump or exonerate him. And let’s get on with the business of running the country. We’ve seen enough of this charade. My only hope coming out of this is that people in these Democrats’ districts that pushed for this realize they are the problem and remove them from office. And I am too much of a realist to believe they’re smart enough to actually do it.

Trump’s Defense Is Stunning!

As we’ve seen so far in the Trump Defense Team’s efforts to show Republican Senators that this whole impeachment fiasco is just a ploy, they’ve come up with what I think is a stunning defense strategy…and when you think about it, it’s taken right out of the Democrat’s playbook.

They’ve doubled down and turned the tables on Schiff and Nadler.

Instead of trying to prove the Donald Trump didn’t obstruct Congress, or abuse his power in order to thwart Joe Biden’s chances in the 2020 election, they’ve gone after the Democrats’ jugular. They are saying that it wasn’t Trump, but the Democrats that are trying to interfere in the election. It’s the Democrats who are trying to remove a viable candidate from office in hopes of winning the election in November. The whole impeachment issue is a charade designed to stain the president in the eyes of the American voter, and that is actually worse than what Trump was doing in his Ukrainian phone call.

What a stroke of genius.

The world has been playing into the Democrats’ hands, as to whether Trump was guilty or innocent of the charges the House came up with. But no one ever thought to ask the question whether this entire impeachment issue was actually just a ploy to interfere with the free election of a president in 2020! It’s a brilliant strategy when you think about it, and it’s one that should certainly be considered.

Now, having said that, I know as well as you know if you’re a regular here, that this isn’t going to change many people’s minds. First of all, the Democrat Senators in the jury box are going to keep on believing they need to get rid of Donald Trump in order to win in November. And, as I’ve said before, the biggest reason they need to get rid of him is that if he wins re-election, and the Senate stays in Republican hands, Trump will continue to appoint conservative judges to all sorts of federal courts, including the Supreme Court.

That last one is going to be the golden ring on the merry-go-round for the left. They realize that both Stephen Breyer, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are most likely not going to last another four years. Both are in their 80’s. And on the Republican side, Clarence Thomas isn’t a spring chicken…he’s 71. That means that Donald Trump could have three appointments to the high court in a second term. If those three were to leave during a second Trump term, that would take a 5-4 court to a 7-2 conservative court, and would drastically change the legal landscape of our country for the next 50 years or so!

If you want to know what this election is about in the eyes of Democrat leaders…that’s it. They are about to lose the ability to control the judiciary, which is something they set about doing back in the 1940’s under FDR. Slowly, Democrats have amassed a slew of liberal judges on federal benches all over the country. And Donald Trump is replacing them at a record rate with well documented conservatives.

So, forget the economy, forget “The Wall”, forget all of the foreign policy deals, and trade deals. This election, in the eyes of the people running the country is about the legal system and the judiciary branch. That is, after all, the only thing that matters.

And Trump’s defense team is about to close down the five Republican jurors that were waffling as to whether or not they should allow witnesses.

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

Have you wasted any of your time this week watching the impeachment trial? I’ve tried to maintain a “normal” schedule, but keep watching from time to time. There has been something that has made me very irate, and I’m sure my physician would be upset because I’m positive my blood pressure is through the roof.

I’m tired of the Democrats’ lying!

Adam Schiff, that convicted compulsive liar from California, has been the best at it so far. He has claimed that we cannot adjudicate changing a president at the ballot box. I thought that was precisely HOW we adjudicated changing a president. But he’s convinced that with their current crop of candidates, none of which would hold a candle to Donald Trump, that the Republicans would win the election, allowing him to call “Foul!” and claim that the election, regardless of how one sided the results were, was stolen.

Schiff needs to realize that it’s HIS party that steals elections. Here’s a quick quiz. Which party has dead people voting in Chicago? Which party had more people voting in Detroit than had residents? Which party did Joe Kennedy purchase an election for in 1960? Which party has had countless violations of voter fraud, “found” ballots after the election in some closet, or otherwise been able to manipulate vote totals AFTER the original vote was taken?

In case you didn’t answer “Democrat” for all of those responses, you’re missing the boat.

Democrats have been lying, mis-characterizing, distorting, and cheating this entire impeachment sham. They have taken a very well known and Constitutionally sound practice known as “Executive Privilege” that has been used by every president since George Washington, and said that it’s “obstruction of Congress”. Actually, no. It’s not. And I’m not even close to being a lawyer and I’ve got that one figured out.

Democrats are playing to five total Senators on the Republican side that may sway their vote when it comes to hearing witnesses…that’s what this is all about. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Mitt Romney of Utah, and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee are all possible of going for witnesses. That’s the Democrats only hope to get any Republicans to swing over on the actual conviction vote. Only four of the five are needed to allow witnesses. Basically, I’d look for Collins to make a lot of noise but fall in line. Murkowski will probably vote for witnesses because she’s pretty much brain dead. Romney probably will too because he’s very anti-Trump. Gardner faces re-election issues in an every-growing blue state, so he’s a possiblity, and Lamar Alexander, who is retiring this year has expressed a need for a “thorough trial”.

Other than that, and only on the vote for witnesses, Democrats are well aware that they are losing the game in the end. That’s why Schiff is calling this something that can’t be decided at the ballot box… because he’s hinting at the next play in the book…regardless of Trump’s victory in November, the call will be that there was voter fraud, Russian interference, Ukrainian interference, whatever. Democrats will once again, not be able to accept the fact they’ve acted like a bunch of two year olds, and are being punished by their actions!

Maxine’s At It Again!

You don’t have to have a good memory at all to remember Maxine Waters (D-CA) screaming, “Impeach 45!” at the top of her lungs to anyone that would listen even before Donald Trump took office. You haven’t heard much from Maxine lately. Probably because there were many more people that actually had a command of the English language that they could talk to.

But Waters is back.

She did an interview earlier this week with MSNBC. Bascially, Waters said, “We did what we thought was absolutely necessary to inform the American public about this dishonorable president and what he has done. Yes, he blocked, he intimidated, and he made sure that those people (she’s talking about Bolton and Mulvaney here) that had information about him and what he has done did not come before the Congress of the United States and testify. And so, he basically, obstructed justice. He obstructed the Congress of the United States of America and he worked very hard to keep those with information from coming before us. Why would he do that? Only a guilty person would do that!”

Well, Maxine, you’re wrong again. She certainly knows that the Constitution gives Congress the right to determine what an “impeachable crime” is, but she has no idea what “Executive Privilege” is. Donald Trump, as President, has a right to keep things that he has discussed in his branch of government from other branches, the same way the Supreme Court can hold non-public, in-private meetings, and the same way Congress can hold private, non-public meetings. Each branch of government is allowed to do that. Apparently, Maxine needs a primer in the Constitution! Every single president since George Washington has followed exactly what Donald Trump is doing. What makes Trump different? He won the presidency against someone Maxine felt should have been president. Period.

Waters was then asked if the GOP should be allowed to call Hunter Biden, or even Joe Biden as a witness during the impeachment trial itself. Here’s her response:

“They can call whomever they want to. We know that uh, should they call Biden, they’re tempted to distract attention away from what this president is being accused of. Absolutely we should have Mulvaney. Absolutely we should have Pompino (I think she meant Pompeo). Absolutely we should have those who absolutely know and participated in what was going on. This little of uh, his friends and members, and uh, people in his cabinet are have basically created a criminal enterprise in the White House. Yes, we want to hear from them, they should be witnesses. They can try and call whomever they want to call as a witness. I feel comfortable, uh, that we uh, are on the right track, uh, that we are doing what is, uh, necessary to do uh, as uh, responsible members of the Congress of the United States when the president of the United States has put us in a position of not being secure.”

OK…whew! To parse that fully could take the entire impeachment trial. Let’s suffice it to say that most Democrats don’t want Hunter or Joe Biden called because of the evidence that could be uncovered. It could blow Joe Biden’s chances out of the water of becoming the nominee of the party, and ruin Democrats’ chances of winning back the White House. Second, you’re never going to be able to get people like Mick Mulvaney, or Mike Pompeo or anyone else on the President’s staff to come forward. Again, it’s Executive Privilege. Maxine really needs to go back and take a high school civics class. Suffice to say, witnesses may or may not be called, but if the Democrats don’t allow for the Biden’s to be called, you won’t be getting witnesses. That’s fair!
