EXTRA! Just A Few Thoughts On Gas Prices

I couldn’t help by chuckle when I heard Karine Jean-Pierre describe the recent decline in gasoline prices as “exciting”, claiming that the price was heading to $4 a gallon.

It got me thinking, which is usually a dangerous thing.

Joe Biden has consistently blamed others for the rising gas prices that have soared in some places to over $7 a gallon. He blamed COVID. He blamed Donald Trump. He’s blamed Vladimir Putin. He’s blamed the Saudis. He’s blamed everyone but himself. Though he hasn’t mentioned that he’s made it damn near impossible to pump oil in this country. That, after Donald Trump put policies in place that allowed America to become an energy exporter for the first time I can recall.

So, if it was everybody’s fault BUT Joe Biden’s that gas prices were on the rise, how can it be Joe Biden is the savior and responsible for the lowering of the gas prices? If he didn’t raise them, but all of these outside sources were the cause of it, how can he take credit for lowering it? It just doesn’t make sense. I mean, if he could lower gas prices, as Jean-Pierre is claiming, then why did he let the price of gas get so high in the first place? If you can lower something, you can lower it. If it’s getting too high, why didn’t he stop it sooner?

Of course, the quick and easy answer is, he could have but he doesn’t want gas prices to go down. He wants gas prices to stay inflated. But he realized (or his staff realized since they are the ones calling the shots), that he went too far. America is far from ready to accept European gasoline prices. When the price of gas gets over $3 a gallon the country starts going into panic mode. When it tops $5, the gloves come off. At $7, there’s a revolution.

All of this seems to be a moot point because it looks like Biden and his Democrat buddies are heading for a tumultuous fall come November. I know they are trying everything they can find to try and get you to stop thinking about the economy. It doesn’t seem to be working. Yes, they are still blaming Donald Trump for the whole January 6th protest thing at the Capitol building. Yes, they are trying to pack the court, hold protests over the Dobbs v. Jackson SCOTUS ruling, and the whole idea to come up with something to get your mind off of the lousy job they’ve done since 2021. I really doubt at this point it’s too late to right the ship. There are so many bad things happening in our society today that even if Biden or the idiots in Congress could wave a magic wand and make them all disappear, they’d still probably lose.

But the liberals in the country seem determined to keep doubling down even though everyone at the table knows that they don’t even hold a pair of deuces in their hand. Yet, they want to go all in. They are content to die on the sword come November. I have no idea why they want to sink lower than they already are. Biden’s approval ratings are now well into the 30’s. He’s even touched the 20’s in some polls. And now, the word is that he won’t be running for reelection because of all of the problems. Word is that the one person that actually would have a shot of beating either Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump is thinking about putting out feelers…Michele Obama! Does she really want the headache? And if she were to win, could she actually fix Biden’s many mistakes or just make them all worse?

Karine Jean-Pierre needs to stick to the truth and call a spade a spade when she’s at the White House podium. We The People are tired of the lies.

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

When The White House Lies…

Growing up as a kid, you probably respected your parents. I know I did. If they said something, I just took it as fact. I mean, why would they lie to me? I trusted that they would have my best interests at heart and would act accordingly. I didn’t know that’s what I was doing at the time, but it’s exactly what I was doing. We as a nation are kind of the children of our leader in a sense. We expect that we should be able to respect our leader, and take what they say as fact. But as we’ve learned over the years, that’s just not the case.

And it gets worse with our current president.

Joe Biden’s Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre has had a rough start to her tenure, there’s no denying that. She has fumbled, mumbled, stumbled, and rumbled her way through the daily press briefings so poorly that even reporters from “friendly” publications and networks are turning on her. Tuesday was the latest episode.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy, who I never really thought very highly of until he landed his position as the White House Reporter, has continuously asked the tough questions, and pointed out when the administration was either wrong or lied to us. Former Press Secretary, Jen Psaki knew how to handle Doocy, though he usually got the upper hand on her. Jean-Pierre is totally lost.

In case you missed it, Tuesday, Doocy asked Jean-Pierre to comment on why there was a voicemail of the President giving his son business advice, when he has sworn tons of times that he “never discussed Hunter Biden’s business with him.” Jean-Pierre’s answer? “I’m not going to talk about alleged materials from the laptop.”

Well, that’s like your parents telling you that you can’t have any ice cream because it tastes bad. But it gets worse. Other reporters in the room, sensing that there was some shenanigans going on here, decided to chime in and ask why she didn’t answer Peter’s question. She was stumped.

This is a White House that if they don’t have the answer that they want to give, they either make something up on the fly that has to be walked-back in an hour or two by the communications team, or they deny and lie. That’s not what the President of the United States is for. Look, it’s a very simple thing here. If Joe Biden never had business dealings with his son, or discussed his business, he needs to say so. But if this voicemail message is accurate and correct, he needs to come clean. And that’s not just me saying that about a Democrat. I said the same thing about Donald Trump. I have said the same thing about George W. Bush. It doesn’t matter what party you’re from.

You don’t want parents to lie to you and tarnish your respect for them, and their credibility. Likewise, we don’t want a president of either party to lie to us or obfuscate the facts. If Biden is guilty of anything, he needs to come clean. He doesn’t have much credibility left, and when you’re approval ratings are so far under water that you’re almost in the 20% range, you have major problems. Not just for you and your electability, but for the whole party. And it seems that the whole Democrat party jumps on the Biden bandwagon and backs him regardless what nonsense he comes up with.

If that’s all true, then why on earth behind close doors are they trying to tell Biden not to run for reelection?

The Honeymoon Is Over

Typically, the Washington press corp gives an incoming president a honeymoon period to get used to their new surroundings, and the millions of things that they have to do that they had never done in the past. Typically that period runs about six months or so. In Joe Biden’s case, the honeymoon period has been about a year and a half.

But it appears to be over.

The broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) as well as the cable channels (CNN & MSNBC), and the liberal newspaper media (Washington Post, New York Times and countless others), seem to be tiring of having to cover for an administration that has so many gaffes, so many mis-steps, so many policy errors that even the most out of touch American understands this is an administration in trouble. And when the mainstream liberal media already has a lower credibility rating than used car salesmen, you have to wonder how much longer are they going to be giving Biden a break.

I don’t think it’s going to go on any longer. With the arrival of Karine Jean-Pierre as Press Secretary, and the departure of Jen Psaki, who at the very least understood how to handle the media, it’s becoming evident that the Washington press folks are starting to lose patience with both Jean-Pierre and Biden himself.

How many times has Biden ad-libbed a line or two from a speech, only to have the White House later come back and walk back what he said? How many times has the administration made a decision to do something, only to have it turn out worse than if a third grader with a bad attitude had made it? How often can Jean-Pierre read her answers from a prepared script when the reporters grill her with questions that any normal person would ask? And when in God’s name is she actually going to answer the question of how the administration was working on the baby formula problem “since February”, but Biden only heard of the problem in “early April”? The media wants to know which “senior advisor” briefed Biden on the topic, but Jean-Pierre isn’t about to throw anyone under the bus this early in her tenure.

We’ve seen this before, and it’s never a good thing for a sitting president. The press decides, in most cases, because of a lack of communications or simple answers, that they’ve had it and they turn from backing the president to slamming him any chance they can. In this case it not only hurts Biden and any chance he would have at reelection in 2024, it hurts the whole Democrat party. Not that the buffoons in Congress need any help looking feckless. But this time, the media had gone to the mat for Biden during the campaign. Time and time again, they had to battle the naysayers that said Biden wasn’t mentally fit for office, and that his gaffes showed more than just mis-speaking. It showed a total lack of knowledge on the subject at hand. Even Donald Trump got some better coverage than what Biden is getting these days. And it can only get worse.

Biden’s only hope is to get a win somewhere, and make it a big win. But we’ll have to wait to see if that can even happen. It needs to happen soon though, because we’re just seven months away from the Republicans taking over Congress. And when that happens, Biden basically becomes a lame duck. Quack!

Open Mouth…Insert Foot

Sometimes when you try to explain why something isn’t happening like you think it should be, the best course of action to take is to keep your mouth shut. Because a lot of times when you do open your mouth, you say things that make people that have following the topic realize that you have no clue what you’re talking about.

That’s what happened to Joe Biden this past week. On Wednesday, Biden was meeting with manufacturers of baby formula. Now, this has been a sore spot for the White House since early February, when the shelves became bare after Abbott Nutrition closed it’s Michigan plant due to health issues with the baby formula. Now, the plant doesn’t make all of the baby formula in the country, but a significant portion of it.

What made matters worse was Joe Biden decided to go off script. The White House has continuously said that they have been working feverously on the problem since they learned of the shortage in February. Well, that’s not Biden’s take on things. Once again, the President and the rest of the folks at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue seem to be looking at two different stories. Biden’s commented, “I became aware of this problem sometime in early April, about how intense it was. We did everything in our power from that point on.”

Wait a minute!

Are you trying to tell me that grocery store shelves were empty as far as stocking baby formula was concerned, the White House was working overtime on correcting the shortage, and Joe Biden didn’t know about this situation until some TWO MONTHS later? Who in God’s green acres is running this place? Do you mean to tell me that others in the White House knew about this catastrophe, but they didn’t brief the President on it? Wasn’t this a rather important topic that someone in charge should be up to speed on?

And then when the new Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre had a lot of problems trying to answer reporters’ questions on the topic. Her initial response was, “I was in my office. I did not actually hear what the president said.”

But the reporters smelled blood in the water and pressed the issue. Jean-Pierre, who isn’t the keenest bulb in the box, said that you know, the President has a lot on his plate, and gets briefed on a lot of different topics. She refused to name the person that actually DID tell Biden about the shortage.

This is just one more of the multitude of gaffes, slip ups, lies, half-truths, and outright screw ups that this administration has given us over it’s first 18 months in office. It makes you wonder why they are getting so much wrong. It would seem to me that it would start with communications. When you think of all of the Biden fumbles over the past year and a half, it’s usually because he’s not on the same page as the staff that writes the teleprompter, and he goes off script. He’s not fully aware of the day-to-day happenings of the events taking place in the White House, and has a hard time understanding the complexity of the issues.

And frankly, as one that holds a Communications Degree from the esteemed school of Ohio University, I’m at a loss to understand why these Ivy League schmucks can’t do a better job at informing their boss what’s really going on around the country. Or, maybe they are, and maybe just maybe, he doesn’t have the mental capacity left to remember any of it.

That’s the scariest thought of all!

Misguided Tour?

I’m well aware that presidents need to flit around the world and meet with other world leaders. It’s just part of the job description. I’m also painfully aware that when the people who are your constituents don’t list much world happenings other than the war in Ukraine as something that’s on their mind, but are much more concerned about things like illegal immigration, inflation, gasoline prices, supply chain shortages, crime in the streets, and the like, you need to deal with that.

Joe Biden just doesn’t get it.

Biden left last week for a tour of Korea, and Japan. He’s hoping to send a message to both China and North Korea that they are still on his radar. Meanwhile, his approval rating has hit new historic lows, and he hasn’t been able to come up with one solution to any of the problems mentioned above. All he can do is blame Vladimir Putin for high gasoline prices, which is absurd, and pass the buck when it comes to everything else. Talk about a losing proposition!

To add more fuel to the fire, his chief gatekeeper to the media has left. Jen “Circle Back” Psaki, flew the coop for the greener pastures of MSNBC, where she won’t have to work 24/7. In her stead, Biden elevated Karine Jean-Pierre, who in her first week hasn’t impressed anyone with her handling of the press. All she has shown is that she is a very poor reader and an even worse communicator.

So, Biden has done something that his former boss, Bobo Obama also did. Back in his presidency, he took Jen Psaki from the State Department and brought her into the White House. Psaki had done a fairly decent job working with Hillary Clinton, and learned the ropes on Pennsylvania Avenue. So, Biden said, why not try it again? He tapped Pentagon spokesman John Kirby to come to the White House to help shore up a fledgling and faltering communications team, now led by Jean-Pierre.

I find it amazing that the guy that couldn’t leave a 30 miles circle to campaign from when he was running for president just two years ago, would jet off to the farthest corners of the world just so he wouldn’t have to deal with the onslaught of the problems he’s created here at home. And you can add to that the lifting of Title 42, which was set to expire on Monday (at the time of this writing).

No, Joe hasn’t impressed a lot of people. I’m sure that when and if Congress flips to the Republicans this fall, Joe will find a way to blame someone other than himself for the total lack of confidence in his government. The only problem is, running to the other side of the world isn’t going to help. He still has to come home!

EXTRA! Rough First Day!

First days on the job are always tough. You’re never sure what to expect. You’re not sure what pitfalls are out there, and no one is going to stop what is going on in their work lives to bail you out of a jam all of the time. It’s a tough thing to be sure, and the only way around it is to put your head down and bull through it.

And that’s the type of day that Karine Jean-Pierre had Monday.

Jean-Pierre took over the job as Press Secretary from Jen “Circle Back” Psaki, who’s moving over to MSNBC. And she was greeted by Peter Doocy from Fox News with an incredibly difficult question for a socialist to answer. Doocy posed the question, “How does raising taxes on corporations lower the cost of gas, the cost of a used car, the cost of food for everyday Americans?” He was asking because Joe Biden tweeted that the best way to deal with the inflation problem was to make sure that the “wealthiest corporations pay their fair share”.

Well, Karine had a problem with that one. Her rambling response included, “So, look…I think we encourage those who have done very well, especially those who care about climate change, to support a fairer tax code that doesn’t change…doesn’t charge manufacturers, workers, cops, builders, a higher percentage of their earnings.”

Huh?

First of all, can anyone tell me what in hell “climate change” has to do with the inflation rate? It has absolutely nothing to do with it other than to once again, foist blame on someone other than Joe Biden for the mess that he got us into with his overspending.

Now, it wasn’t just Jean-Pierre’s response that was very rambling and disjointed. Did anyone also realize the fact she was reading her answer? If you look back at that quote, she said, “a fairer tax code that doesn’t change….doesn’t charge…”. She mis-read the word “charge”. She had her book open to the answer and was directly reading from it, looking down to her left.

Now, I get it that the first day is usually a bad day because you’re the new kid and don’t understand everything yet. But let’s face it. Jean-Pierre just wasn’t prepared to face Doocy. She sat in several times when Doocy sparred with Psaki. She should have known it was coming. In fact, she HAD to know it was coming because she had her answer written out! She read the answer. And it was a terrible answer.

I used to host those weekend shows on talk stations that basically are paid for infomercials. I would sell the time to clients, and then sit in and co-host the show with them if they wanted. And I always told them that the first show they would do would be the worst show they would ever do. And it always was. But you would expect that at this level of government, you’re going to at the very least get someone who is prepared to meet with the press, and be able to cognitively answer their questions without reading the answer. Let’s just hope she gets better! So far, I’m not impressed!
