CNN Head Defends Trump Town Hall

Oh, there weren’t many employees of CNN that were very happy about Chris Licht’s decision to move forward with a town hall broadcast featuring the GOP leading candidate at this point, Donald Trump. Many of the employees thought that Licht was on some very powerful drugs. Some like Oliver Darcy, the CNN media reporter, got hauled into Licht’s office for a bitch session. He was berated for the way he covered the event, and tried to push back, but Licht failed to back down. People that watched Darcy come out of Licht’s office described him as “visibly shaken”.

Of course, the leftist socialists that comprise CNN’s audience couldn’t believe one of the left’s strongest allies was going to give a Republican time to spout whatever they wanted to on the channel. All sorts of leftist whack jobs came forth to complain. But it didn’t do any good. Chris Licht is trying very hard to make CNN a news channel to rival Fox News, not come in third behind MSNBC on a daily basis. So far, he’s met with a lot of resistance, and has had to fire a lot of personnel.

One that may end up being on the chopping block because of this is Kaitlan Collins, the 31 year-old that tried to fact check Trump in real time with terrible results. It got so bad that at the end of the broadcast, Trump called her “a nasty person”, and commented that she was a very bad host. It was very obvious to anyone that watched, and even those that only saw the highlights, Collins was way out of her league. The fact-checking didn’t go very well. She tried in real time to fact-check the former president, and failed miserably at it. Her style was anything less than professional, often arguing with Trump. That’s not a town hall, Kaitlin. That’s a debate, and you’re not running for anything (other than a job).

I do have to give Chris Licht some credit. He said when he came on board a year ago that he was going to make CNN more mainstream and less of a party platform for the Democrats and the Socialists out there. He has largely succeeded in that. When you look at the people that have left CNN in the past year, either of their own accord or by the boot, it’s pretty astonishing. Brian Stelter, Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo (though he left before Licht got there), and the entire CNN+ group except for Chris Wallace, who really isn’t really doing much of anything there are all gone or heading out the door. Now you can soon add Oliver Darcy and possibly Kaitlin Collins to the mix.

It’s all done by design. Chris Licht was hired for one very simple reason. Advertisers weren’t flocking to the news channel because viewers were leaving it in droves. Oh, it happens to every news channel after a major election, and 2020 was no different. But where the audience usually comes back after a couple of months (it took six months in Fox News case), they were flipped to MSNBC when it came to CNN. And the one-time king of cable news not only was dethroned, but was relegated to a daily third place finish. Licht’s job was to correct that. And he’s making strides.

CNN is no longer a bash-Trump, bash-Republicans channel. Oh, they still have their slant, and it’s decidedly liberal. But in the end, it’s a lot better than it had been. I still hate watching the channel because it is still a liberal bastion, just not a socialist liberal bastion.

The key for Licht’s success will be in the numbers. If the audience comes back, the advertisers will come back. And if that happens you can kiss any chance of CNN returning to it’s liberal ways anytime soon. And who know? They may just end up giving Fox News a run for their money!

Eating Their Own

I always knew the time would come when liberals would eat liberals. It was just as natural as the sun rising in the east. And the reason is simple. There are so many differing factions to the Democrats and the liberals out there that they are bound to run into each other on occasion. But this one may have taken the cake.

Now, they are upset at CNN!

Oh, it’s happened in the past. In fact, it happened on Joe Biden’s first day as president. Remember he decided his first act in the White House was to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline project? Up to 11,000 people, all union members (read that as liberal…though the members usually aren’t) lost their jobs when Biden cancelled the project. But it happened again after CNN ran a town hall gathering with Donald Trump.

CNN had a town hall meeting with Donald Trump?

Yup. It was hosted by Kaitlan Collins, and had a bunch of Republicans and right-leaning independents in the audience. Trump was Trump, eschewing the fact that he had the 2020 election stolen from him. And he went on to say time and time again that Joe Biden isn’t fit to be the president in the first place.

And oh, did the libs every attack CNN for even considering to hold the town hall. Here’s the tweet from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: “CNN should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost total control of this ‘town hall’ to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.”

And it went on like that as the normally socialist network was lambasted by it’s audience. How dare they give a speck of time to a Republican, especially someone like Donald Trump?! They should be ashamed!!!

And that in a nutshell is the difference between the leftist socialist news channels, and what you see on the more conservative side, like Fox News, and Newsmax. At least Fox and to a lesser extent Newsmax are attempting to bring in the liberal view from time to time. Fox does a much better job of it, but they still manage to mostly either get rather moderate Democrats like Harold Ford Jr. or Geraldo Rivera to expound the liberal philosophy, or they end up with die-hard socialists that really make fools of themselves. Marie Harf, Leslie Marshall, and Jessica Tarlov come to mind of folks that fit into that vein.

You never really see a network like CNN or MSNBC catering to the other side. And when you do, it’s usually because they are bashing something a Republican somewhere has done. Here’s an example. James Comer, the Kentucky Republican Chairman of the House Oversight Committee held a press conference on Wednesday to show the world banking records his committee has uncovered regarding the Bidens. He outlined how there were fifteen different shell companies set up, mostly by Hunter Biden, and a few by Hunter’s buddies, that ended up funneling the money to nine different Bidens. You didn’t even hear word one of that on CNN or MSNBC. I don’t think any of the traditional networks broadcast that either. What they were busy talking about was the indictment of George Santos, the Republican Representative from New York that lied throughout his campaign. No mention of the Biden scandal, but they spent oodles of time covering this numbnutz.

And there in a nutshell is the difference between liberal and conservative. You can’t do anything right if you even mention the other side if you’re a liberal. And if you DON’T cover both sides as a conservative you’re hammered, not just by your own side, but by the left as well. And that’s how the left is able to sweep a lot of their more damning scandals under the rug. The question is, are they really going to be able to do it with Joe and Hunter Biden? And if that day comes, do you think places like CNN and MSNBC and the three broadcast networks will actually mention it? Back in the days of Watergate, all of the broadcast networks suspended their regular programming to cover the investigations on Capitol Hill about Richard Nixon. The phrase, “What did he know and when did he know it” became a part of our lexicon that is still used today. I doubt seriously you’ll see any of the broadcast networks cut into their soap operas and game shows to cover Joe Biden’s trial.

Can We Hire By Experience PLEASE?

You may not have heard that Phil Washington, Joe Biden’s nominee to head up the Federal Aviation Administration has pulled out of the job. He decided after a disastrous confirmation hearing in the Senate, that he probably wouldn’t get the nomination anyway. So, he’s going to go back to the Denver International Airport, where he’s been running it for two years.

And it begs the question, can we PLEASE start hiring people for these governmental positions based on their experience, not because they are persons of color, or differing sexual preferences, or genders?

Why Washington wasn’t confirmed was very easy to see if you watched any of his testimony. First of all, he’s not a pilot or even an aviation fan. He’s this guy that basically got thrown into the job in Denver. Prior to that, he was part of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. But it had more to do with busses than with airplanes. And yes, Virginia, the two are a little different when it comes to managing them.

Washington is just the latest person that Joe Biden has tabbed to be in his administration that has very little to no experience to tackle the job he was going to do. You can look at K-baby Harris as far as a Vice President, who was chosen only because she was “a woman of color”, and not because of anything she could bring to the job. When press secretary, Jen Psaki stepped down to spend more time on TV than with her family by joining MSNBC, the job of addressing the reporters from the press room podium went to Karine Jean-Pierre. Jean-Pierre was the first black and first openly gay press secretary in history. But before that, she had no experience in addressing the press. Her biggest job prior to that was being K-baby Harris’ Chief of Staff during her run for the presidency, which blew up in flames long before the first caucus in Iowa.

And the list goes on and on. Pete Buttigieg had zero experience in the transportation industry. In fact, out of the top 68 positions in the Biden administration, there is an aggregate total of just 161 years of experience. That’s an average of 2.4 years of experience in the job they were nominated for. But it gets worse than that. Of the 68 top positions, 42 of them had zero experience in that area. None. So the Jennifer Granholm’s of the world, while a woman, and a former Governor of Michigan, is only a self-proclaimed expert on “clean energy”.

So, my question is, can we please get back to hiring people not based on quotas and sexual preferences, but on whether or not these folks can actually do the job and are familiar with what it is they are being tabbed for?

Back in the day, you needed experience to get these nominations. Oh, it was different if you wanted to be named Ambassador to some country. I mean, who among us wouldn’t want to be the Ambassador to the Bahama’s, or Bermuda? Wouldn’t you love to be the Ambassador to France or maybe even Japan? That’s where these political types usually end up. But nowadays, we’re letting them run education, and transportation, and energy, and the EPA, and a dozen other agencies, solely based on the color of their skin, who they sleep with, or their gender. That’s no way to pick someone for a job.

Biden needs to get his head screwed on straight. You can’t expect great things out of people that don’t know what they are doing. I would be a terrible person to be put in charge of General Motors. I can’t build a car. I never have. In fact, I don’t care that much about cars…they are simply a means to get from point A to point B in my world. So, why would anyone want to hire me to be in charge of a company that designed and built cars? They wouldn’t unless they wanted to go bankrupt very quickly!

Tired Of The Lies!

Our country is in a quandary. We have “advanced” to the point where we are so far beyond where the Founding Fathers ever thought we’d end up, that we are off any page of any book by now. And there is one problem that is exacerbating the whole situation more than any other.

Lies.

When you look at it, the government has been lying to the American people for a very long period of time. I’m not talking just Democrats here, I’m talking the whole government. And the issues that we’ve been lied to about, are numerous. It’s not just one thing. There are a myriad of topics that government “spins” to give us their best view.

When you look at polls, I was amazed to believe that 61% of all Americans believe that government agents helped provoke the January 6th riots at the Capitol. And what that means is basically that most Americans feel that there were elements of the government that were undercover agents that spawned the riot at the Capitol building. The question is why? Were they Trump supporters that were upset over the election results? Were they leftists trying to get something to pin on Trump as he was ready to leave office? No one knows at this point.

Look at the lies Joe Biden has told us. My Lord, if you just take the lies that the guy has told over the last three years since he was running for president, about his own personal life, it’s staggering. Look at the lies that came out of Adam Schiff’s House Intelligence Committee as they discussed behind closed doors impeaching Donald Trump a second time because of the Capitol riots. And what about the former Obama administration officials that lied to the American people saying they had proof that Donald Trump was a “Russian agent”, when they totally changed their tune in testifying before Congress on the subject.

Look at the lies we hear about in the media. How many stories has the three major cable news networks fabricated to get their ideology across, just in the last 10 years? You know, when our country was founded, the media was supposed to be the check on government. They were to be the spotlight that showed where the roaches were, so we could fumigate the place. That’s tough to do when they are lying to you and making up news stories that just aren’t true. Think about the journalists at the New York Times, and Washington Post, as well as CNN and MSNBC that have been fired for lying. I can count ten very easily, and they span Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. The names are as household as IBM, Microsoft, and McDonalds. And these are the spotlights of truth?

You know, my mother always told me that she could tell when I was lying as a child because I had a white ring around my mouth. I don’t know where she came up with that, but it worked. I realized at a very young age that lying was difficult. It fought the truth, which always seemed to come out. You ended up not just lying once, but you ended up spinning a whole web of deceit to cover the one lie you told. I’ve seen it happen thousands of times. And it’s usually not the first lie that catches the liar, it’s the subsequent mis-truths.

I’ve often said that the breakdown of the family, and the loss of religion in our society has been the root cause of the decline of America, and I still believe that. But one of the large by-products of that are the lies being told. How many times did Nancy Pelosi tell lies about bills that were being debated and passed in the House of Representatives? How many times did she lie about what happened to her husband, Paul, when he got beat up in his own home? Or how many lies were told about his car crash and subsequent DUI? The truth always comes out, and when it does, it’s always worse than if someone had told the truth.

I’m just tired of the lies we are hearing from a government that is supposed to serve and protect us. I can’t count on anyone in government to give me the truth. Hell, they can’t give each other the truth. Did COVID come from a lab in Wuhan or a wet market because of bats? They say they don’t have consensus because they don’t want the truth to be known. The question you have to ask is, why are you covering this up? What is it that you really don’t want us to know? And what will be our reaction up the road when we find out the truth to all of this? Will we accept it because they’re all just politicians? Or will we hold them accountable for their lies. It’s sickening.

Will CNN Make It Through 2023?

If you look at the history of mass media, there is a birth, a life, a death, and a rebirth of pretty much everything that is included in media. Take newspapers. After Johannes Gutenberg invented the movable type printing press back in 1440. Newspapers flourished. It was that way until 1920 when radio burst on the scene. At that point, you didn’t need newspapers to give you the news. Radio was quicker, easier, and cheaper. But newspapers could do what radio couldn’t. It could go much farther in depth. And so, when it died, newspapers found a different way to operate. They gave in-depth analysis into “why” something was happening, not just that it was happening.

And it’s happened that way with radio, and television, and cable television, and satellite television, All have been born, led a life, and for the most part have or are dying. Some have been reborn, like AM talk radio. You don’t hear too many AM stations playing music anymore. FM does a much better job. The question is, can one of the giants in cable news make it to the end of this year?

That giant is CNN.

Cable News Network, which started as a brain child of Ted Turner back in the 1980’s has been around for a couple of generations. It found it’s stride with blow-by-blow coverage of the first Gulf War back in 1990. It made household names out of it’s reporters who were on the ground covering the war. But somewhere in the past 20 years or so, CNN decidedly turned liberal. They let reporters give opinions on stories. They spun stories to allow the liberal viewpoint to take front and center. And they introduced news that wasn’t really news, but liberal talking points. Jeff Zucker headed up CNN for much of that time, and took the credit for it being the liberal bastion that it was.

But then CNN was sold to Discovery. Zucker found himself out of a job, replaced by a more moderate Chris Licht, who decided that he was missing half his audience solely because of the bias CNN was projecting. He vowed to make changes to the cable news network, who had slipped in popularity and was coming in third behind Fox News and even MSNBC.

Back in the spring of 2022, Licht started firing people. A lot of the reporters left the company either by choice, or they were shown the door. The list of names that once graced CNN was long and rather star-studded. Scandals also didn’t help as people like Chris Cuomo were fired over his protecting his brother Andrew during the former New York Governor’s sex scandals. Another round of layoffs cut further into the staff last month.

So, the question is, can CNN find it’s very own “rebirth”? Or is it doomed, along with other cable news outlets who are struggling to make a profit? All of these cable news monoliths are having problems selling ads as millions of people are turning off cable altogether and heading where you are right now…the internet. The result is now you can find about 1.4 million people tuning into Fox News on a daily basis. There are about 750,000 folks watching MSNBC, and less than a half million people are being loyal to CNN. That doesn’t bode well. There are local radio stations in this country that can boast more listeners than CNN has viewers. And when you don’t have viewers, you don’t have advertisers.

Can Chris Licht turn it around and make CNN respectable again? Can he get back some of the more mainstream and conservative viewers that were lambasted and made fun of by CNN’s previous hosts? And can he do it in time to turn some sort of profit in 2023, or will Discovery be forced to do to CNN, what Licht did to CNN+ a month after it’s launch…and that’s put it out of it’s misery altogether? That’s what lies ahead for the grandfather of cable news networks!

So NOW I Get It!

I was sitting here a couple of days ago watching “Outnumbered” on Fox News. I will say first and foremost that it really it me watching it why Fox News does what they do when it comes to inviting people like Juan Williams, or Marie Harf, or Leslie Marshall on the show.

Let me take you back to what happened.

Fox News always tries to be “fair and balanced” by having maybe one liberal on with two or three conservatives, so you get both sides of the story. They never have an equal number, so I’m not really sure how “balanced” it is. But it goes farther than that.

I was watching “Outnumbered”, the show hosted by Harris Faulkner, who had on Brian Kilmeade and a couple of other rather conservative ladies. Joining them was “Democrat Strategist”, Leslie Marshall. They were talking about the Fetterman/Oz debate and Marshall was quick to point out that Fetterman would win because “he was up by six points.” Faulkner let her have her say, then pointed out, “Leslie, that’s not accurate. CBS News just released a poll an hour ago that says the lead is now down to 1 point. That’s one point. It hasn’t been six points for a month!” Marshall just sat there dumbfounded.

After a quick break, they came back and were talking about the inflation rate. Marshall tried to make the argument that “everyone around the world has worse inflation than we do, and it all had to do with the pandemic and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.” Oops. This time Emily Compagno jumped in stating, “That’s not really true. The inflation rate was 1.4% when Biden took office.” And Faulkner chimed in, “In November of last year it had gone from 1.4% to 7.9%! That was before Putin invaded Ukraine and well after the pandemic. Again, Marshall sat there looking like a deer in the headlights.

And then it hit me.

When you look at the Democrats that Fox News brings in to take the other side, they fall into one of two categories. Either they are the Juan Williams, Marie Harf, or Leslie Marshalls of the world that aren’t that bright and don’t give a very good argument to what’s happening, or they are the Harold Ford Jr.’s or Geraldo Rivera’s that have a pretty smart head on their shoulders, and aren’t always solidly in the Dems’ corner.

My feeling is Fox News wants to make sure they can have the conservative argument win out regardless what the topic is, so they invite people like Williams, Harf, or Marshall that just aren’t that good at making the liberal case on the show. It makes people like Kilmeade or Faulkner, or Perino look all the smarter. You see it all the time. Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, and Sean Hannity all use what I would call “left wing stooges” to make the Democrats’ point, that they can easily squash without really thinking about it.

It’s a format that seems to work well for Fox News. What I find interesting is that CNN and MSNBC haven’t copied it to work the other way. Maybe that’s because there are no totally brain-dead conservatives out there? Just sayin’!

Biden’s Growing Frustration

Joe Biden isn’t a happy man. He’s becoming more and more frustrated with the media. Oh, I know. Most presidents say the same thing at some point in their presidency. Even the uber-liberal press at some point desires meat to eat and wants to gore the Commander-In-Chief. But Biden can’t figure out why the three major TV networks, the New York Times, Washington Post, and other print rags, and cable news outlets like MSNBC and CNN are continuing to roast him.

Maybe it’s incompetence?

I mean, let’s look at the facts. Biden wants to blame the rest of the world for the high inflation. In reality, while the world is suffering from inflation as we are, it was caused by two things. The first was the over-spending without showing a need during COVID. Now, I’m not saying that some people that lost their paychecks and their jobs during the shutdown weren’t needing some relief. They were. I wasn’t. And I still got a couple thousand dollars stuffed into my bank account, even though I was doing just fine. That falls on both Biden and Donald Trump. They could have means-tested it before sending out the checks, but they didn’t. The second thing that caused the US inflation rate to spike was Biden’s insistence on spending money hand over fist to “Build Back Better”, and when that didn’t work, to pass some inflation reduction act that does nothing of the sort. In fact, it adds to the inflation rate for the next ten years.

Next up, you’ve got the country pissed at Biden because of historically high gas prices. Biden wants to blame this on COVID as well. And he wants to blame it on Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. But Biden is the one that shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline on his first day in office. It wasn’t COVID, and it wasn’t Putin. In fact, gas prices started their upward spike on January 21, 2021. That was long before Putin thought of invading Ukraine. That one was all on Joe Biden. In the meantime, he’s decided to dwindle down our strategic petroleum reserves to the tune of over a million barrels of oil a day. And instead of allowing the oil companies greater freedom to drill, he’s tamped down the process, slow walked the approvals, and has tried to switch to an electric vehicle economy, even though we are decades away from having the technology to deal with it.

Biden’s handling of foreign affairs aren’t any better. He put K-baby Harris in charge of the Southern Border Crisis, because he didn’t want to leave the White House or do something that required actual work. It was too far over her head to even understand the problem, much less do anything about it. And of course, the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan killing 13 US Servicemen and women still stings over a year later, not to mention leaving hundreds of Americans behind, and thousands of Afghans that were helpful to our cause during the decade we were there. Now throw in the fact that Biden goes hat in hand to the Saudi’s to try and get them to increase oil production so he can brag about it prior to the midterms, and then try to get Iran to re-open discussions on Obama’s failed Iran Nuclear deal, and you’ve got someone that has been on the wrong side of every issue for a half a century.

Does Joe Biden have a leg to stand on to complain about how the media are handling him? It was much better when Jen “Circle Back” Psaki was the Press Secretary. She was at least able to deflect and handle the criticism at the podium in the press room. Karine Jean-Pierre isn’t even able to look the reporters in the eye when she reads the scripted answers to their questions. And she’s been caught in more lies than Pinocchio from the podium. This is a classic case on hiring someone for the job because of their sexual orientation, the color of their skin, and their gender, rather than their ability to actually do the job!

Sorry Joe. You don’t have anything to complain about. The press turning against you is long overdue. Maybe if you tried putting policies in place that actually helped America, you’d find the press corps more willing to be your partner? Just sayin’!

Here’s Why Biden’s Student Loan Bailout Is Illegal.

You would figure that Democrats would have learned by now. It’s not a matter of whether or not a student loan forgiveness program would be a good thing. I think most people are in the camp that this isn’t good. We’re teaching our kids (and those that are now adults) that it’s okay to backout of a deal like a loan without any consequences. You don’t have to worry because Uncle Sam will come to your rescue.

Except to do it the way Joe Biden did it isn’t going to work.

My hunch is, if it hasn’t happened already, there will be lawsuits filed that block his executive order to forgive $10,000 to up to $20,000 (for Pell grants) for any person with a student loan so long as their income is under $125,000 ($250,000 per married couple). The reason for that is simple. All you have to do is look at Article I Section 8 of the US Constitution: “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.”

In a nutshell, that sentence says it all. If the White House is going to shift the payment of the student loan debt to the United States’ taxpayers, and do so by an executive order, it is illegal. Only Congress has the power to “lay and collect taxes”. The mere fact that Biden issued an executive order transferring $10,000 per eligible student to the taxpayers breaches Congress’ role to lay and collect taxes. The Executive Branch cannot do that.

It will make it’s way to the Supreme Court long before any student anywhere receives dollar one off of their student loan. And since Biden has continued the repayment holiday until the end of this year, it’s very likely that the lawsuits will be filed and most likely a temporary injunction issued prohibiting Biden from moving forward on this until the case is settled. That’ll probably happen at the Supreme Court level and may not make their docket this year.

More and more Democrats are having buyer’s remorse when it comes to this plan of Biden’s. They originally were all for the idea until it sunk in that it WILL be inflationary, and it WILL cause harm to the economy. Not only that, but there are several independent and non-partisan accounting groups who have run the numbers and say the $300 billion that Biden has proposed is actually going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 to $900 billion because the administration under-played the number of people that they felt would be applying to have their loans forgiven.

Even liberal bastions like CNN and MSNBC are starting to question the legitimacy of this program, and the intelligence behind it. Of course it stems from Joe’s campaign promise, but didn’t he also promise that taxes wouldn’t be raised on anyone making less than $400,000 a year? And then that was revised to be $400,000 per household. Still, this E.O. will hit every American, regardless what that babbling idiot, Karine Jean-Pierre says as she stumbles through yet another Peter Doocy question!

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

But Do You Believe? Do You REALLY Believe?

I have to admit, I missed this one when it came out as I was traveling. MSNBC Anchor Katy Tur admitted to the world that she feels she could be “doing more harm than good” in the way she anchors her newscasts. There’s a simple reason for that. Americans have lost faith in TV anchors. Oh, not just the Katy Tur’s of the world. They’ve lost it with ALL newscasts.

Only 11% of Americans have a great deal or a lot of confidence in television news according to a Gallup poll taken back in June. Newspapers didn’t fare much better hitting an all time low of just 16%, the first time ever that medium was below 20%. 46% of Americans have little or no confidence in newspapers. Only 5% of Republicans and 12% of independents have confidence. Democrats fare much better as 35% say they have confidence in what they read.

For television it was even worse. The confidence level fell below 20% for the fourth consecutive year. A majority at 53% of us said we had very little to no confidence in TV news. 8% of Republicans, 8% of independents and 20% of Democrats have any confidence in what they see on TV.

The whole reason for the distrust is simple. Newspapers and TV News have been making up stories. We left the “spin” in the dust eons ago. Now these media are just plain out making things up. They editorialize in the middle of newscasts or on the news sections of a newspaper. Things that belong as editorials are absolute rant sessions.

And what is really disturbing to me about all of this is that our Founding Fathers looked to the press (at the time only newspapers) to be the guardians of truth for our new nation. That’s what Freedom of the Press was all about. It was the press that was supposed to shine a light of truth and honesty into the dens of iniquity that would occur from time to time in our government. No one would have believed back then that the press in that day (which wasn’t very honest or unbiased either….ever hear of “yellow journalism”?) would be untrustworthy.

The media, and I’m talking ALL media needs to get back the credibility that they’ve lost. What’s the first thing you do if you’re taking over a country? You take over the media. Once you control the TV, radio, and newspapers in a country, you control the reporting of what’s going on. And you can say whatever you want. That’s what’s happened in this day and age in America. It’s sad, and it’s sickening. And it’s a good thing that at least one journalist that is doing it, admits that she’s troubled by it. There should be scads more!

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

But Will The “NEW” CNN Be Any Better?

I don’t know how it can get much worse. But the “new and improved” CNN is coming. Since Jeff Zucker left the cable news channel, the staff has drifted rudderless. It wasn’t much better when Zucker was at the helm. His uber-leftist stance in presenting the news cost CNN about half of their audience, a ton of advertising revenue, and really damaged any positive reputation the news channel once had. Remember…this was the channel that basically started the whole cable news channel revolution and put an end to the networks’ nightly news stranglehold.

With Zucker gone, new CEO Chris Licht is set to step into his new office on April 11th. And when he does apparently there are rumors that there will be a lot of changes. One of the changes is who Licht will answer to. David Zaslav, who is the CEO of Discovery channel portion of Time/Warner will oversee Licht. Thats going to mean changes at the cable news network.

The rumors swirl that CNN is going to go back to the more straight forward news approach. If that’s the case, then one wonders what is going to happen to the likes of Jim Acosta, Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, Van Jones, Brian Stelter, and Jake Tapper. If CNN decides to be more mainstream and less flame-throwing with their presentations, these six could be out the door as could Don Lemon.

Frankly, it would be nice to have an unbiased cable news channel out there. Pretty much anymore you have to choose whether you want a conservative or liberal view and then pick. And the liberal view has been dominated by CNN and MSNBC for decades (of course the network newscasts have all been way left of center for a long time as well). The more conservative cable shows can be found on the likes of Fox News, Newsmax, and OAN.

The big question is, if CNN does indeed move to the center, leaving only MSNBC as the only liberal snowflake channel out there on cable, does that improve their ratings? Or have they lost that crowd already?

And one of the things that a lot of folks working in the Atlanta hub are concerned about is the launch of the new streaming service CNN+. Some folks I know who work there say that the streaming service needs a major overhaul already, and is nowhere near ready for launch. That should be interesting for someone like a Chris Wallace who left a relatively stable gig at Fox News, as their major leftist host to join a more friendly group at CNN. Poor Chris is finding out he may have jumped too soon!

Whether CNN makes it or has to revert back to the old snowflake days, they’ve got a lot to prove. Just saying you’re going to be more unbiased is one thing. Doing it is quite another.

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
